January 5th, Consumer Electronics Show 2017, Las Vegas – Audio specialist Audio-Technica is unveiling its new flagship high performance over-the-ear wireless headphones – the Bluetooth® aptX HD-enabled ATH-DSR9BT, winner of a CES Innovation 2017 award from the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), and the ATH-DSR7BT. These wireless models are the first headphones to employ Audio-Technica’s innovative Pure Digital DriveTM system, proprietary technology that, along with unparalleled advancements in driver design, keeps the original audio signal completely digital from source to driver for an unprecedented sound performance. Alongside this wireless duo, Audio-Technica is also introducing its flagship premium wired model, the ATH-SR9.
Designed for both listening at home and on-the-move, Audio-Technica’s headphone trio deliver the best-in-class, wired and wireless audio-experience.
ATH-DSR9BT and ATH-DSR7BT: Introducing Pure Digital DriveTM system technology
To successfully execute the Pure Digital DriveTM system technology, the ATH-DSR9BT and ATH-DSR7BT have been designed from the ground-up by Audio-Technica’s leading audio-engineers. Unlike conventional wireless headphones this new series uses a specially designed Trigence Semiconductor Dnote® chipset to keep the audio signal completely digital from the source direct to the headphone drivers. Exclusively designed 45mm True Motion D/A drivers feature a four-core voice coil (single-core on ATH-DSR7BT) that precisely processes complex digital signals for the smooth movement of the diamond-like carbon material coated diaphragm. Without the need for a digital to analogue conversion that often degrades and distorts the sound quality, the combined result is a truly accurate and natural audio reproduction.
The headphones support wireless aptX HD, aptX, AAC and SBC codecs up to 24-bit/48kHz signals in Bluetooth® mode while they can handle high-resolution 24-bit/96kHz audio playback from compatible devices, such as a PC, via a USB connection. Both headphones are also NFC-enabled for easy one-touch Bluetooth® pairing with an NFC compatible device such as a smartphone or tablet.
A dual-layer aluminium isolation structure has also been specially developed for the ATH-DSR7BT. Separating the electrical and acoustic spaces, this lightweight but rigid design reduces unwanted vibration that can taint the sound while also helping to extend the mid to low frequency sounds for an optimised audio performance.
Both headphones are designed for a secure but ultra comfortable fit, boasting memory-foam that creates a personalised fit, evenly dispersing headphone weight across the head. Equally, the soft foam eliminates fatigue during long listening session while also enhancing noise-isolation.
This headphone duo allows easy control on the move, boasting touch controls for playback, pause, volume and answering/ending calls. Three lights on the housing indicate whether the headphones are paired with a device, which codec is in use, as well as displaying battery life status.
Both models come supplied with a two metre USB cable for charging and connection to a PC or Mac while the ATH-DSR9BT arrives with a hardshell carry case, the ATH-DSR7BT a carry pouch for protecting the headphones when travelling.
ATH-SR9: Wired for High-Resolution Audio
The ATH-SR9 headphones are designed to offer a audiophile-class performance in total comfort for High-Resolution Audio listening on-the-go. Featuring a 45mm ‘True Motion Hi-Res Audio’ driver, Midpoint Mount Technology and a diaphragm coated with DLC (diamond-like carbon), these premium headphones deliver superior and natural response times, a higher frequency range and a refined, well-balanced pro-grade sound. The ATH-SR9 also includes a dual-sided detachable cable incorporating A2DC high-quality connectors for enhanced left and right channel separation and reduced crosstalk.
